IT IS OFFICIALLY CELIAC AWARENESS MONTH!!   As many of you know, May is Celiac Awareness Month. I want to thank the entire Celiac Community and our allies for the tremendous amount of love, support and strength you have all shown each other and myself.  Every one out there fighting to take back their health and their lives and spreading the awareness of this disease is a true hero. It’s the every day heroes like YOU that keep me going! Before I share my recipe with you, I want to briefly talk about a MAJOR and relevant topic here… INFLAMMATION. Inflammation, what can I say but I HATE…

Everyone Needs a Little Sunshine!!!!

Everyone Needs a Little Sunshine!!!!

I found my little girl, Brooklyn, (pic above) happily on her back passed out in a small area of the floor where the sun had broken through my curtains. She was in a blissful state. Her legs twitched back and forth as if she were running through a large grass field with a million cookies all around. That was of course until she heard me go for my phone to take her picture. She woke up startled, her hair a mess and rolled over as if to say, “Really mom? That was a great dream”. Sorry dear. What I really wanted…

Time to Take Back Your Health!!

I have way too many wonderful recipes to not be sharing with you.  Especially since I cook pretty much 99% of every meal I eat, own and operate a gluten free allergy friendly bakery in NY and am always creating new dishes all the time.  Of course they are all gluten, egg, dairy, soy, refined sugar free, as well as nutrition packed, always organic and always with the idea of keeping the gut calm and in healing mode.   I haven’t been keeping these recipes from you, I promise.  Life just pulled me in 10 different directions. Until yesterday. While…

A Cookie For Lauren – Grain Free, Gluten Free and Hope

A Cookie For Lauren – Grain Free, Gluten Free and Hope

With so much craziness going on lately I sometimes get pulled into the nonsense and get taken from my actual purpose here…to help. That’s all. I don’t wish to argue, beg or plead with anyone anymore for them to understand, have compassion, offer a few moments on their talk show or for a write up in their magazine. It’s become painfully obvious that some just do not want to hear about this disease and what I have to say about it. And then I remembered my new friend Lauren. One busy weekend I received a call from my friend who…

Holiday time to me used to mean one of my all-time favorite things: baking Christmas cookies with my sister.  We would plan for weeks to make batches of all different kinds of cookies, chocolate chips, pecan cups, walnut balls and jam dot cookies.   This was a time not only to eat all those fresh baked yummy treats but a special time with my older sister who gave me her undivided attention for the evening.  Oh the joy!!  We baked with cousins, friends and then, eventually with her daughter and son.  When we both were diagnosed with celiac disease almost…
